Joy Howard

Associate

Joy Howard concentrates her practice on federal tax controversies and international tax planning, with an emphasis on helping clients navigate cross-border compliance and resolve disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Joy gained experience with a multinational law firm supporting client-focused tax planning for private charitable foundations, cross-border business transactions, and reporting of foreign-held accounts. Joy is admitted in Texas only, and her practice is supervised by DC Bar members.

International tax informed the framework of Joy’s academic studies and led her to attend Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. During her Master of Laws in taxation, Joy pursued an International Tax Certificate, acquiring subject knowledge in transfer pricing, debt instruments, and advanced international taxation. While at Emory Law, Joy served as an inaugural member of the Turner Environmental Clinic Scholars Program. Before law school, Joy graduated summa cum laude from Howard University, where she studied internationally in Italy, China, and South Africa.
