Marcus Schmidbauer advises on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, international and domestic tax planning, and corporate tax matters. He guides clients, including private equity funds, global corporations, and financial institutions, on the tax structuring of investments, restructurings, and dispositions, as well as on complex cross-border matters relating to French and international tax law. Marcus speaks French, German, and English.
Marcus has also handled wealth planning for French and non-French tax residents, and represents clients before the French tax authorities and national jurisdictions.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, he was a partner in another law firm.
- A French private equity investment fund on the tax aspects of an investment in a software editor in the proptech sector
- An Italian company engaged in the import and distribution of fruit and vegetable products on the tax aspects of the acquisition of a majority stake in France's leading wholesale market operator with 12 sales platforms
- A French manufacturer of electronic shelf labeling and physical retail systems on the tax aspects of the acquisition of a data processing and digital solutions company in the retail sector
- A private equity fund on legal and tax due diligence in the acquisition of a French producer of premium frozen partly-baked specialty breads, snacks, and pizza dough
- A French wealth management and private banking firm on several add-on transactions, notably the acquisitions of two French wealth management advisories
- A German global household appliance manufacturer on the tax aspects of the acquisition of a minority stake in a leading European manufacturer of tableware
