Marie-Agnès Nicolas
Marie-Agnès Nicolas advises multinational companies and financial institutions on complex investigations, enforcement matters, and high-stakes litigation. She has extensive experience in anti-corruption, economic sanctions and export controls, business and human rights, anti-money laundering, as well as financial regulatory matters spanning cross-border compliance counseling, contentious proceedings, and crisis management. Marie-Agnès assists companies with compliance programs, risk assessments, internal investigations, and compliance-related due diligence. She advises on matters involving French, US, and international regulatory and enforcement authorities, including compliance with French and international anti-corruption frameworks, international sanctions, and financial regulatory issues.
Marie-Agnès is a trusted advisor of private and public companies in highly complex cross-border investigations, enforcement actions, and crisis management. In these high‑stakes contexts, she advises boards of directors and executive leadership on navigating regulatory scrutiny, shaping crisis response strategies, and implementing post‑investigation remediation.
Marie-Agnès’s practice draws on deep experience advising clients on French regulatory and enforcement matters. She regularly assists clients in preparing for and responding to controls by the French Anti-Corruption Agency, French criminal enforcement actions, and civil disputes, as well as issues arising under the French Blocking Statute.
These matters are part of a broader practice through which Marie‑Agnès advises industrial companies, financial institutions, and state-owned entities on compliance issues at every stage of risk exposure, including the design and implementation of compliance programs, risk assessments, due diligence on high-risk transactions, internal investigations, and negotiations and resolutions with regulatory and enforcement authorities.
Before joining Morgan Lewis, Marie-Agnès was a partner at another international law firm.
