Malcolm (“Max”) Tyler represents multinational clients in intellectual property matters across various industries, including software, technology, artificial intelligence, ecommerce, entertainment, gaming, sports, and social media. Max has experience advising clients in brand enforcement strategy, online enforcement, domain name disputes, and intellectual property licensing. Max represents brand owners before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board in enforcement actions, and applicants before the US Patent and Trademark Office who seek to protect their trademarks through federal registration. Max also handles M&A intellectual property due diligence.
Max devotes time to pro bono clients across various fields and interests, including immigration, an LGBTQ+ nonprofit, and the arts & entertainment industry.
Prior to law school, Max earned his master’s degree in journalism at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and worked as a sports journalist for the award-winning ESPN the Magazine, where he engaged in reporting, editing, fact checking, writing, and research for The Magazine and ESPN.com.
