Michael Giaquinto concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability and mass toxic tort litigation. Michael defends clients in high-risk mass tort and products liability litigation in California and Washington, including asbestos, talc, e-cigarette, and battery explosion product liability actions. He represents a wide range of clients involved in the manufacture, sale, and distribution of products such as pumps, valves, boilers, automotive parts, cosmetics, paint, fertilizer, lawn mowers, and zip lines. Michael has also represented premises owners including power plants and various industrial facilities.
Michael works in all phases of litigation and has prepared countless state and federal cases for trial. He has handled national asbestos dockets for years, while concentrating his practice on often fast-paced California litigation actions, preparing cases for trial in 120 days or less. To that end he has taken thousands of depositions on behalf of clients, including trial cross-examination of plaintiffs, percipient witnesses, and expert witnesses.
For the last five years Michael has been on the forefront of defending manufacturers and retailers in talc litigation. On behalf of talc clients, he was responsible for preparing cases for trial and for implementing new defense strategies for clients both as local and national coordinating counsel. Additionally, Michael has presented talc sourcing issues at litigation seminars, as well as publishing on the fundamental regulatory issues surrounding the cosmetics industry.
While Michael has strong background in products liability, he also worked extensively in defending one of the leading rideshare service providers in the United States.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Michael was a partner at a national law firm where he served as national coordinating and trial counsel on product liability cases, and as lead counsel on mass, multidefendant toxic tort cases. Known for his work as a California litigator, Michael has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star five years in a row.
While in law school, Michael worked as clerk for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office in the felony Preliminary Hearings Unit, where he conducted hundreds of probable cause hearings on behalf of the government for various offenses including robbery, weapons possession, and narcotics trafficking.
