Nina Jayne Carroll

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Nina trained at a leading Irish law firm in Dublin, gaining experience in competition, privacy and technology, public and private mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and commercial contracts. She is dual qualified in the European Union (Ireland) and England and Wales.

Nina holds a first-class honors M.C.L. degree from the University of Cambridge in which she undertook competition law as her year-long paper. She also holds a first-class honors LL.M. in Advanced Legal Practice from Northumbria University, where she specialised in competition law with reference to the digital economy and privacy considerations in antitrust law.

Nina is IAPP certified, specialising in EU data protection matters. She is also a Young Lawyer Representative on the American Bar Association’s Privacy and Information Security (PRIS) Committee, regularly providing updates through the PRIS Committee regarding EU and UK privacy matters and regulatory developments.

Nina maintains an active pro bono practice and is also a member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

• Acting for Focus Pharma in its appeal in the Competition Appeal Tribunal against the CMA’s infringement decision in relation to an alleged market exclusion arrangement in respect of anti-nausea drug prochlorperazine
• Advises a number of technology clients on current and future obligations arising under the UK Digital Markets and Digital Services Act
• Advises various multinational clients on the progress of ongoing global M&A transactions, providing technical analysis from an EU/UK perspective
• Advised a large engineering and technology company on potential competition considerations arising with a reciprocal technology transfer agreement
• In collaboration with EU and US teams, advised a multinational technology corporation regarding the developing artificial intelligence regulatory landscape in the United Kingdom
• Advised a large technology company in relation to proposed regulatory updates concerning Standard Essential Patents in the European Union
