Saeed Alqahtani

Of Counsel

Saeed Alqahtani focuses his practice on litigation and dispute resolution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, representing clients across several industries in matters before the general, commercial, criminal, labor, and administrative courts. Saeed also represents clients in arbitration proceedings in Saudi Arabia and has appeared before the Saudi courts in matters pertaining to the enforcement and set-aside actions of arbitral awards. He speaks Arabic and English.

Saeed partners with clients to develop and execute legal strategies, guiding them through all phases of dispute resolution, from providing prelitigation advice to representing clients in settlement negotiations and mediation proceedings. Beyond his litigation and dispute resolution knowledge built over 11 years, Saeed helps clients develop strategies to mitigate litigation risk. He also provides expert reports to international courts.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Saeed set up the local court litigation practice of one of the largest law firms in the Middle East and North Africa region, where he served as senior counsel.

  • Represented a bank in several bankruptcy claims

  • Represented royal family members, a formal prime minister, and other Saudi companies in arbitration proceedings, handling cases under both ad hoc and institutional frameworks

White Collar Crime

  • Assisted an oil and gas company in an investigation of employees who violated company policy and represented the company before the Criminal Court; the employees were eventually convicted
  • Advised clients in matters related to white collar crimes locally and internationally
  • Secured a victory before the Saudi Supreme Court in relation to an anti-corruption case
  • Obtained a judgment from the appeal court nullifying the first instance court decision to award an employee SAR 3.6 million and dismiss plaintiff’s claims against the client
  • Represented the third largest Saudi company in several claims related to labor disputes
  • Advised clients on matters related to Labor Law
  • Represented a sovereign wealth fund company in various employment litigation matters

Civil and Commercial Disputes

  • Represented and defended a client in a claim valued at more than €30 million before the General Court of Riyadh
  • Represented clients in real estate disputes before the General Court
  • Represented a client in an heir dispute
  • Represented a client in a shareholder dispute
  • Successfully defended the third largest company in Saudi Arabia in a case valued at SAR 35 million
  • Represented the largest real estate company in Saudi Arabia in various disputes involving construction, employment, and leasing
  • Represented one leading US companies in litigation in various commercial matters before the Commercial Court and employment matters before the Labor Courts in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam
  • Represented clients in various judicial proceedings, including preliminary hearings, complex trials, and appellate advocacy

Banking and Security Disputes

  • Represented major regional banks in several claims related to banking disputes
  • Represented an international bank before the Security Committee in Saudi Arabia
  • Represented banks in several claims related to banking transactions
  • Secured a defense resolution before the Securities Disputes Resolution Committee in a claim valued at $30 million
  • Represented an international bank before the Enforcement Court in three fraud cases brought against the bank

Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) Disputes

  • Successfully canceled a decision of ZATCA valued at SAR 800 million
  • Successfully canceled a decision of ZATCA valued at SAR 450 million

Arbitration

  • Represented international and domestic clients in arbitration proceedings, handling cases under both ad hoc and institutional frameworks
  • Advised clients in relation to arbitration matters under Saudi Law
  • Defended client arbitration agreements before Saudi courts
  • Filed an arbitral award nullification application and successfully obtained a judgment in the client’s favor

Enforcement Proceedings

  • Advised clients on enforcement proceedings in Saudi Arabia
  • Filed enforcement applications for both domestic and international judgments and arbitral awards
