Stephanie R. Reiss counsels clients across a variety of employment areas. She focuses her practice on complex litigation of wage and hour issues and claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). She also advises clients on employment discrimination matters and noncompete agreements, works to create employment policies and agreements, and provides ongoing counsel on employment matters. Representatives from the financial, entertainment, energy, manufacturing, retail, and food services industries seek Stephanie’s counsel.
Stephanie works with clients on complex litigation in jurisdictions around the United States. She has defeated class or conditional certification in wage and hour class and collective actions. She has also obtained summary judgment or dismissal of the named plaintiff’s claims in class and collective actions, thereby mooting the class-wide claims.
Stephanie successfully enforced class and collective action waivers in arbitration agreements signed by named plaintiffs. In ERISA litigation, she has resolved more than 50 single-plaintiff actions, and has handled complex class actions.
Employment litigation remains a core part of Stephanie’s practice. She obtained dismissals and summary judgment awards in favor of employers in a variety of discrimination cases, and in several cases where an appeal was taken, successfully obtained affirmation from the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Stephanie previously clerked for the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania’s Chief Judge D. Brooks Smith; she also clerked for Judge Smith on the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
