Victoria Chong focuses her practice on Singapore tax law. She advises major corporate and institutional clients on income tax and goods and services tax as well as stamp duty implications across all corporate transaction types. This includes matters involving corporate restructuring, cryptocurrency, establishment of offices in Singapore, mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, and employee incentive plans. Victoria also regularly assists clients with seeking advance tax rulings from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) as well as making submissions to the IRAS to facilitate dispute resolutions.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Victoria practiced at a Tier 1-ranked Singapore tax practice group in one of Singapore’s leading law firms.
Victoria was also a recipient of the IRAS Merit Undergraduate Scholarship. She spent the first six years of her legal career at the IRAS, where she advised the IRAS on tax-related legal and policy issues. During her time at the IRAS, Victoria also appeared before the Boards of Review and Singapore appellate courts for various tax litigation matters, and spent some time as a tax prosecutor.
