Wendy Tan’s practice covers litigation and transactional matters. She counsels clients on a wide range of commercial litigation and international arbitration disputes, particularly those relating to shipping, energy, international trade and commodities, insurance, and logistics. She also advises on joint venture agreements, supply chain agreements, oil and gas transactions, ship sales and purchases, and employment and insolvency issues. Wendy has received international recognition and accolades from several legal publications and directories.
Wendy represents clients on high-value transactions before the Singapore International Commercial Court as well as the High Court and the Court of Appeal of the Republic of Singapore. She also acts as counsel in arbitrations managed by rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) seated in Singapore, Hong Kong and London. Wendy has also had appointments as arbitrator including under the SIAC Rules.
She routinely advises offshore and marine companies, underwriters, ship owners, commodities traders, and logistics companies. Wendy is fluent in Chinese and frequently acts in disputes involving corporations from the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Wendy is the appointed legal counsel of the Singapore Logistics Association. She is a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SiARB) and a member of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), the Maritime Law Association of Singapore (MLAS), and the Singapore Insurance Institute (SII), as well as a supporting member of LMAA. Wendy’s work in dispute resolution, international trade, and shipping has won her recognition from the industry, including “Local Disputes Star” in general commercial, insurance, and arbitration by Benchmark LitigationAsia-Pacific (2013); Best Lawyers in Singapore for maritime law(2013 to 2018) and trade law (2014 - 2018); Who’s Who Legal for transport-shipping (2014); and Client Choice—International Law Office 2014 award for shipping and transport in Singapore. She was also nominated in Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Award for best in shipping (2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013).

Chambers Asia-Pacific(2015) praised her for combining “excellent knowledge of the law” with “practical recommendations to clients”.
