Wendy is a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and also a director at Morgan Lewis Stamford LLC, a Singapore law corporation affiliated with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
Wendy Tan’s practice covers litigation and transactional matters. She counsels clients on a wide range of commercial litigation and international arbitration disputes, particularly those relating to the maritime, energy, international trade, insurance, and logistics sectors. She also advises on joint venture agreements, supply chain agreements, oil and gas transactions, employment, and insolvency issues. Wendy has received international recognition and accolades from several legal publications and directories.
Wendy’s experience in commercial disputes over the past 20 years extends to representing clients on high-value transactions before the Singapore International Commercial Court as well as the High Court and the Court of Appeal of the Republic of Singapore.
She is regularly retained as counsel in international arbitrations seated in Singapore, Hong Kong and London managed by arbitral rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA), and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Wendy has also had appointments as arbitrator under the SIAC Rules and the Singapore International Arbitration Act.
Wendy is fluent in Chinese and frequently acts in matters involving corporations from the People’s Republic of China.
Wendy is the appointed legal counsel of the Singapore Logistics Association. She is a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SiARB) and a member of the SCMA, the Maritime Law Association of Singapore (MLAS), and the Singapore Insurance Institute (SII), as well as a supporting member of LMAA.
Wendy’s work has won her recognition from the industry, including “Disputes Resolution Star” in international arbitration, shipping, general commercial, and insurance by Benchmark LitigationAsia-Pacific, and Best Lawyers in Singapore for maritime law and trade law. She was also the winner of the Best in Shipping award by Euromoney Legal Media Group as part of its Asia Women in Business Law Award 2018.
