Yara AlHowar counsels and defends employers on a wide range of workplace issues, including disability accommodation, protected leave, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, and internal investigations. She has represented companies in state and federal court and in private arbitration, where she has examined witnesses, taken and defended depositions, and led arbitration teams to favorable awards in high-stakes employment matters.
Yara brings to her practice strategic judgment, practical problem-solving, and clear, persuasive writing. She is a responsive and client-focused advocate who helps businesses navigate complex disputes efficiently and effectively.
She also maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing criminal defendants in partnership with local public defense organizations. Her broader litigation experience includes commercial and class action matters involving contract disputes and antitrust claims. During her federal clerkship with Judge Robert S. Lasnik of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, Yara supported four sittings of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit while the judge sat by designation. She also clerked for Judge Lisa Worswick of the Washington State Court of Appeals.
