Yousef AlMesad is an intellectual property (IP) litigator proficient with a range of technologies, including telecommunication technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, smart materials, battery technologies, and oil extraction technologies. He regularly appears before the International Trade Commission and US federal district courts. Yousef has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications and is an inventor on a patent family.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Yousef worked at a boutique IP firm in Washington, DC, prosecuting applications in fintech, medical devices, communications, and data processing technologies and assisting with litigation matters.
Before law school, Yousef worked as an engineer for a water technologies company focused on smart materials, smart polymers, power electronics, sensors, machine learning, and renewable energy, in addition to being an inventor on a patent family that is tied to a range of Internet of Things (IoT) technology offerings from the company. He also spent time working for a sovereign wealth fund in the Middle East, concentrating on venture capital and technology transfer. Specifically, Yousef’s emphasis was on valuations for startups and aiding inventors through the commercialization process.
In law school, Yousef worked with the in-house legal departments of two technology companies and at the technology transfer office for the University of Minnesota, in addition to externing for a federal magistrate judge.
Yousef is fluent in Arabic.
