Trump’s Push for Nuclear Ships Waits as Industry Seeks Details, Bloomberg Law

Partner Brooke Clark was quoted by Bloomberg Law in an article examining the regulatory questions surrounding the development of nuclear-powered merchant ships, including how federal agencies will divide oversight responsibilities for reactor licensing, maritime safety, transportation, and export controls.

Brooke noted that while reactor licensing can proceed under existing frameworks, questions remain around the regulatory treatment of nuclear-powered vessels and their movement.

“Reactor licensing can be accomplished today, it’s the transportation things, export controls and things that are intrinsic in the movement that are the unresolved questions,” she said.
