Labor and Employment Issues for Companies Developing New Transmission and/or Generation Facilities

Wednesday, May 16, 2012
02:00 PM - 03:00 PM ET

Please join Morgan Lewis for this webinar, "Labor and Employment Issues for Companies Developing New Transmission and/or Generation Facilities."

Energy companies that are considering developing or owning new transmission and/or generation facilities face choices concerning ownership structure and construction contracts. Each choice has labor and employment implications that need to be addressed up front in order to limit potential liabilities and to facilitate the efficient and timely completion of the project.

During this one-hour webinar, we will address the following issues:

  • Project labor agreements: What are they? When should they be used? What are the alternatives?
  • Separate employer status: What corporate entity will be employing the workers who perform the construction work? Will that entity be deemed to be a separate employer from other affiliated companies? Why is that important?
  • Multiemployer pension funds: What are they? What liabilities can be assessed by these funds in the future? What should companies do to limit those potential liabilities?
