This segment examines the statutory and regulatory requirements affecting employers as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), and offers a review of the current requirements, an outline of the rules and regulations coming into effect, and a discussion on strategies for compliance. Additional topics include: Summary of Benefits and Coverage; preventive treatments (including contraceptive coverage without a co-pay/deductible and HPV vaccinations for males) for plan years beginning August 2012; the imposition of research fees starting in 2013; reporting health coverage costs on W-2s; and the penalties for not providing health care coverage to employees.
