Get Inside the Mind of Your Plan Participants: What Behavioral Economics Can Teach Us About 401(k) Plan Design

Thursday, March 21, 2013
01:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

Morgan Lewis is proud to sponsor WEB Worldwide Employee Benefits March Meeting entitled "Get Inside the Mind of Your Plan Participants: What Behavioral Economics Can Teach Us About 401(k) Plan."

The growing field of behavioral economics looks at the psychology of financial decision making. While economics generally assumes that people act rationally, behavioral economics recognizes that's not always the case. For this reason, behavioral economics can offer very practical insights into the psychology of 401(k) plan participants. Understanding why participants do what they do can help plan sponsors design plans that optimize participation and successful retirement outcomes. Successful retirement outcomes in 401(k) plans have never been more important.

The panel will discuss various aspects of research in behavioral economics and what it means in a "nuts and bolts" sense for plan sponsors.
