Energy Storage: FERC’s Technical Conference & NOPR

Please join us for a one-hour webinar in which we will discuss key takeaways from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC’s) technical conference on electric storage resources in organized markets. We will also cover the recent notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) on electric storage resource participation in markets operated by regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and independent system operators (ISOs).

The conference explored the circumstances under which it may be appropriate for electric storage resources to provide multiple services, whether the RTO and ISO tariffs need to include provisions to accommodate these business models, and how FERC may ensure just and reasonable compensation for these resources. The NOPR proposes amendments to FERC’s regulations to remove barriers to storage resource participation and proposes to require RTOs and ISOs to revise their tariffs to accommodate storage options.
