Swimming in Shark-Infested Waters: How to Avoid Risks Posed by Insider Trading Laws

Tuesday, December 5, 2017

Our Boston office hosted this seminar for the Northeast chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) titled "Swimming in Shark-Invested Waters: How to Avoid Risks Posed by Insider Trading Laws." The seminar brought in more than 50 attendees and focused on the risks posed by the insider trading laws, best practices for avoiding those pitfalls, and the SEC's and plaintiffs class action firms' perspectives on those issues. The program was followed by a cocktail reception attended by corporate counsel from athenahealth, CarGurus, Netscout, Pegasystems, PTC, and Velcro Group, among others.

Partner Jordan Hershman served as moderator for the panel, which offered several diverse perspectives on these challenging issues. Panelists included Paul G. Levenson, Director, Boston Regional Office, US Securities and Exchange Commission; Patrick T. Egan, Partner, Berman Tobacco - Plaintiff's Class Action Firm; Jack J. Concannon III, Partner, Morgan Lewis; and Matthew J. Cushing, Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer and General Counsel, Pegasystems, Inc.
