10:00 AM - 11:00 AM ET

In December 2016, Congress extended the principles underlying the Magnitsky Act of 2012 to address human rights abuses on a global scale, providing authority to sanction individuals anywhere in the world for both human rights and corruption reasons. Although used sparingly, the Global Magnitsky Act (GMA) remains a potent weapon in the sanctions arsenal. Join us for a webinar to discuss the Global Magnitsky Act as it approaches its second anniversary.

Topics will include:

  • How the Act works, to whom it applies, and what standards, if any are being used to designate individuals
  • Whether the GMA will see increased use
  • Likely GMA targets
  • Potential misuse of the GMA
  • Whether other countries will pursue their own form of GMA sanctions

CLE credit: CLE credit in CA, CT, FL, IL, NJ (via reciprocity), NY, PA, TX, and VA is currently pending approval.
