Standard essential patents (SEPs) are receiving greater attention as industry standard technologies are increasingly incorporated into a diverse range of industries, locations, and products beyond smartphones. SEPs are being asserted against automobiles, computing, consumer electronics, factories, farming, home appliances, medical devices, shipping, and many other applications in the Internet of Things.
This program discussed recent developments in SEP litigation, including licensing in the SEP supply chain, jury trials, jury instructions, FRAND rates, and developments in Europe that could impact global SEP disputes involving the United States.
