Artificial intelligence (AI) appears in lots of inventions, but “artificial intelligence” and “machine learning” are not magic words for patentability. In fact, unless you actually create or modify an artificial intelligence algorithm, the usage of AI does not add to patentability. This presentation will illustrate how to identify patentable inventions that use AI, and when it can make more sense to pursue trade secret protection.
