Of counsel Dr. Axel Spies recently shared his knowledge and insights regarding artificial intelligence (AI) in the United States during a German online seminar titled Regulation Worldwide in the Field of Tension Between Innovation, Democracy, and the Protection of Human Rights, hosted by the German Lawyers' Annual Convention. Dr. Spies, German legal experts, and esteemed speakers from the EU Parliament, EU Commission, and China answered questions and examined the technical and legal intricacies surrounding AI tools.
With a focus on regulatory tensions amidst innovation, democracy, and human rights protection, the seminar explored approaches taken in the European Union, United States, and China. Attended by more than 100 German lawyers, the session underscored the urgency and complexity of navigating AI regulation in the contemporary legal landscape.
