HONG KONG, January 12, 2024: The Law Society of Hong Kong has named Morgan Lewis among its Gold Award honorees as part of its Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Program 2023. The annual Gold Award recognizes law firms that make “outstanding contributions” to pro bono services. The Law Society has previously recognized Morgan Lewis’s pro bono work.
Practitioners in Morgan Lewis’s Hong Kong office advise a number of charities, nonprofits, social enterprises, and individuals on a pro bono basis. Recent pro bono work includes advising the Cambodian Children’s Fund Hong Kong, which provides support to impoverished communities, on corporate governance matters such as amendments to its articles of association, organization of its annual general meeting, and change of its directors, as well as on employment and other matters.
Lawyers in Morgan Lewis’s Hong Kong office also advised the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association (SCHSA), which offers around-the-clock personal care and emergency assistance services to the elderly and others in need, on corporate governance matters. These matters included advice on SCHSA’s annual general meeting, its election of directors, and the directors’ fiduciary duties and codes of conduct; defense of frivolous claims; contract management; and data privacy issues.
