PHILADELPHIA, September 8, 2015: Morgan Lewis continues to enhance its white collar and government investigation services with the addition of John J. Pease as a partner in Philadelphia.

Mr. Pease specializes in white collar criminal matters, particularly in healthcare-related Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and False Claims Act (FCA) investigations and litigation. As both a former prosecutor and in-house lawyer, he brings a practical perspective to the many challenges faced by clients in the current regulatory and enforcement environment.

Mr. Pease served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as chief of the office’s Government and Health Care Fraud Section in the Criminal Division, where he tried numerous cases and handled a number of high-profile matters. As a section chief, he managed a large team of Assistant US Attorneys that focused on a broad array of health care and government fraud matters involving the pharmaceutical, medical device, and defense industries. Before becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Pease practiced at another national US law firm, where he was a commercial and criminal defense litigator.

After the US Attorney’s Office, Mr. Pease served as executive counsel at Teva Pharmaceuticals, where he managed global investigations and a wide variety of litigation, and filled a high-level global compliance role.

“John is a talented trial lawyer with government, defense, and in-house experience, who will assist our clients in the life sciences and healthcare industries in the increasingly important areas of FCPA and FCA enforcement,” Firm Chair Jami McKeon said. “He is a valuable addition to our strong white collar litigation team of seasoned defense lawyers who are among the leaders in their profession.”

“John combines outstanding trial skills with a pragmatic understanding of the practice of law from the client’s perspective,” said Litigation practice leader J. Gordon Cooney Jr. “His considerable US Department of Justice background, combined with his significant in-house experience, further enhance our comprehensive investigations and litigation capabilities.”
