TOKYO, June 1, 2016: Tadao Horibe, a veteran lawyer who focuses on regulatory advice to financial institutions and corporate and business and real estate transactions, has joined Morgan Lewis as an investment management partner in Tokyo. He has been a partner at both global and Japan law firms for more than a decade, specializing in general corporate and commercial matters and securities and business law.

Mr. Horibe has significant experience in trust transactions, commercial litigation, and general corporate matters, including transactions involving venture startups, mergers and acquisitions, and financings. He also has represented clients in real estate transactions involving the liquidation of assets using TMK and TK-GK structures (special purpose entities commonly used in Japan for tax implications), and he provides regulatory advice to financial institutions, financial instrument business operators, and real estate agents.

“Tadao is a Japan-qualified Bengoshi lawyer with more than 20 years of deep legal experience,” said Tsugumichi Watanabe, managing partner of the Tokyo office. “His strengths are a welcome addition to Morgan Lewis’s Japan law capabilities and the firm’s expanding global network.”

Mr. Horibe is an active member of the Tokyo Bar Association, where he serves within the real estate legal affairs research group.
