Morgan Lewis Chair Jami McKeon Named Girl Scouts Take the Lead Honoree

Monday, November 19, 2018

PHILADELPHIA, November 19, 2018: Morgan Lewis Chair Jami McKeon has been selected as a 2019 Take the Lead Honoree for Greater Philadelphia by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. The Take the Lead program aims to build courage, confidence, and character in young girls, while honoring distinguished women leaders from the community whose work and achievements exemplify those values and make the world a better place. Ms. McKeon is one of four leaders in Greater Philadelphia who have been chosen for this honor.

"As a former Girl Scout, I know what a tremendous role the organization plays in helping girls grow into strong young women, and I am honored to be a part of this unique program that provides an opportunity for them to learn and develop the skills they will need as future leaders,” said Ms. McKeon. “I am also particularly proud to be included among this accomplished group of women who will help mentor the next generation of successful leaders.”

Ms. McKeon became chair of Morgan Lewis in 2014 and was unanimously reelected for a second five-year term in 2018. She is the first woman to lead the firm in its 145-year history and is one of the few women leading a global law firm today.

A passionate advocate for gender parity and increasing the number of women in law firm leadership roles, Ms. McKeon has appointed dozens of women as office managing partners, practice group leaders, industry sector leaders, and firm advisory board and compensation committee members. In 2015, Ms. McKeon launched ML Women, an initiative that harnesses the strength of the firm’s women lawyers through partnerships with clients and creates opportunities for women to come together around a shared industry or practice.

As a Take the Lead honoree, Ms. McKeon will host a high-school-aged Girl Scout who will shadow her for a day. Ms. McKeon and the other Greater Philadelphia winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on March 5 in Philadelphia.
