Morgan Lewis Represented United Microelectronics in Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor Acquisition

SAN FRANCISCO, October 7, 2019: Morgan Lewis advised United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) in its acquisition of all of the shares of Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited that closed on October 1, 2019. 

UMC is a global semiconductor foundry headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor was a 300mm wafer foundry joint venture between United Microelectronics Corporation and Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited that is now owned 100% by UMC by virtue of this acquisition. UMC now controls and operates this newly acquired business under the new company name, United Semiconductor Japan Co. Ltd.
