Morgan Lewis Partner Handy Hevener Honored with New York Law Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award

NEW YORK, July 2, 2020: Morgan Lewis partner Mary “Handy” Hevener has been selected by the New York Law Journal for a Lifetime Achievement Award as part of its 2020 New York Legal Awards. The award recognizes lawyers who have made a significant impact on the legal community and their practice areas.

Throughout her 42 years of legal practice, Handy has significantly influenced US tax policy related to critical payroll tax, fringe benefit, executive compensation, and contingent workforce issues. A former attorney-advisor for the US Department of the Treasury, Handy regularly advises both Fortune 500 corporations and emerging-growth companies, as well as individuals such as corporate directors.

Handy has served for more than 35 years as a member of the New York University’s Institute on Federal Taxation’s Advisory Board, and she speaks frequently before state, regional, and national meetings. In addition to an active pro bono practice, she volunteered as one of the original members of the Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee to the Internal Revenue Service.
Handy and the other honorees will be recognized in New York on October 27.
