CMS Proposes to Cover Mental Health Virtual Visits Through 2022, MedCity News

Associate Jake Harper was quoted in a MedCity News article regarding the recent proposal by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement legislation that would expand access to telehealth services for the treatment of mental health disorders, particularly in underrepresented communities. Under the proposal, telehealth services would be covered by Medicare for rural and federally qualified health clinics. “CMS is considering introducing new remote therapeutic management services, which are built upon the existing remote patient monitoring codes but have several important policy differences, including how data is collected and the nature of the data collected,” Jake said of the proposal.
