NEW YORK, September 30, 2021: Morgan Lewis secured the #6 and #5 spots in summer associate surveys published by The American Lawyer and Law360, respectively. The firm also placed highly in The American Lawyer’s survey rankings by city, including placing #1 in Boston and Silicon Valley, and in the top 10 in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
The American Lawyer’s annual survey ranks law firms according to responses from summer associates regarding the quality of work assigned, training and guidance received from current firm lawyers, and likelihood of accepting a full-time position. Polling nearly 2,900 summer associates from 71 law firms, this year’s survey also included feedback on participating in a virtual program.
Law360 conducted an inaugural two-part survey, focusing first on the summer associate application process and on-campus interviews, and then on the summer associate experience. Law360’s post-summer survey received 751 responses from 1L to 3L law school students, and ranked on confidence-building, networking and mentorship, adaptability of program format, and commitment to developing skills.
In 2021, the firm welcomed a summer associate class of 78 law students working across 10 offices in the United States. The fully virtual 10-week program exposed the associates to challenging work assignments, pro bono opportunities, training, and a variety of networking events ranging from baseball games to events with firm lawyers. While the program was virtual, our summer associates took part in in-person meetings at their respective offices, as well as social receptions to connect with other program participants.
