PHILADELPHIA, December 16, 2021: Morgan Lewis partner Eric Kraeutler has been elected to serve as chairman of the Committee of Seventy’s board of directors. The Committee of Seventy is a nonpartisan civic leadership organization that advances representative, ethical, and effective government in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania through citizen engagement and public policy advocacy. Founded in 1904, the Committee of Seventy is guided by a board of directors made up of some of the region's most respected business, legal and civic leaders.
Eric has been a member of Committee of Seventy’s board for more than 20 years and a member of the organization’s Executive Committee since 2008. He has served since 2019 as vice chair of the board, and recently as chair of the organization’s CEO Search Committee. The Committee of Seventy recently announced that, effective January 3, 2022, City Commissioner Al Schmidt will join the organization as its next president and CEO.
Eric has decades of experience representing clients in complex, high-stakes litigation—including trials, arbitrations, appeals, and government investigations. As a member of the firm’s litigation practice and the former global leader of the firm’s intellectual property practice, he has achieved distinction across a broad range of matters. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Best Lawyers in America. Eric is a former Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and a former special deputy Pennsylvania attorney general. Eric is in his fourth term as a member of the firm’s Advisory Board.
