In an article commemorating World IP Day, partner Rachelle Dubow discusses the importance of the 2022 theme, “IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future,” noting that it helps shine a light on the possibilities for working in the IP area. “A primary challenge for young people when it comes to understanding the field of IP is a lack of education about or exposure to what a career in IP might entail,” she said. Rachelle also notes that while classes to develop skills in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM fields are usually taught, “the knowledge that you can apply those skills to help protect innovations, brands, art and design through a successful career as an IP lawyer are not necessarily fostered, or even discussed, in the classroom.”
