IRS Taking Twice As Long To Close Appeals Cases, Data Shows, Law360

Partner Jennifer Breen is cited in a Law360 article discussing the US Internal Revenue Services’s (IRS’s) delay in processing appeals cases, referencing the recent slowdown. During a panel discussion, Jennifer shared that the delays have caused frustration for taxpayers and their representatives, noting that it’s taking the agency even longer than a year to close cases.

“I think some of the delay we have to attribute to exam because oftentimes, they're not available to schedule,” Jennifer said, referring to examination personnel. “But I think that we have to figure out a way to get that cycle time down, because I think it's perpetuating some of these controversies.”
