Telehealth's Future After the End of the Public Health Emergency, Healthcare Finance

Partner Jacob Harper is featured in a Healthcare Finance article for a story about expectations that the US Congress will eventually vote on legislation setting up a permanent telehealth solution—something needed once the waivers granted during the COVID-19 pandemic come to an end. Jacob noted that the wait for Congress to act is causing some providers to hold off on telehealth investment.

"The big issue is that it's stalling investment in this area,” he said.

“It makes it difficult for providers, investors to come up with a strategy."

Another issue for Congress, Jacob pointed out, is whether video is a necessary tool for treatment. He noted that a top-of-mind concern is whether “a law will allow virtual visits only for established patients who have already seen their physician in-person, or for new patients who have never been in the office.”
