Partner Russell Bruch was quoted in an HR Magazine article about the US Department of Labor’s proposed overtime rule that, if approved, would extend overtime protections to millions of workers. Russell discussed how, while the proposed rule’s outcome remains to be seen, employers should keep in mind states with overtime laws that currently require higher salary levels to qualify for certain exemptions.
“Some states increase these exemptions every year, and employers must simultaneously comply with these state exemptions and with whatever federal minimum is implemented,” Russell said.
