In a Law360 article reporting on the top developments at the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and across the telecom industry, partner Andrew Lipman, leader of the firm’s telecommunications, media, and technology practice, discussed the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and the FCC’s digital discrimination plan.
Of the former, Andrew noted that funding for the ACP is “currently scheduled to run out in April [2024], and there is a strong desire in the Biden administration to re-appropriate that.”
“Another priority is going to be universal service, both in terms of setting up higher qualifying speeds and also possibly looking at a broader contribution base to afford USF,” continued Andrew.
