Partner William Gorrod was quoted in a Bloomberg Tax article examining Washington State’s newly enacted digital advertising tax and its potential vulnerability to constitutional challenges ahead of its October 2025 effective date.
William noted that the law, which targets online advertising but exempts other formats like print and broadcast, may be vulnerable to challenges under the due process and commerce clauses of the US Constitution, as well as the First Amendment, because it imposes a tax on a particular form of speech.
