DOJ Data Transfer Rule Gives In-House Counsel Few Guideposts, Bloomberg Law

Partner Loyaan Egal was quoted in Bloomberg Law discussing the Justice Department rule requiring companies to restrict data transfers of sensitive personal data to countries deemed as national security risks.

With auditing obligations required by the rule having gone into effect on October 6, Loyaan advised companies to take a cautious approach when implementing new security measures, even if they aren’t sure the rule applies to them.

“[I]t’s just good cybersecurity hygiene,” he said.
