Who’s Afraid of Passthrough Audits?, Tax Notes

Partner Jennifer Breen was quoted in a Tax Notes article examining the IRS’s new passthrough entities exam unit and the recent challenges surrounding its launch.

Jennifer discussed that staffing changes and retirements within the IRS may affect the pace and continuity of examinations but that she is optimistic that the new approach to passthrough audits will bring more transparency.

“Having transparency around the process is really important, because often taxpayers are concerned about not knowing where things are going, what’s happening, just being able to anticipate and understand the process so that you can better engage in it and advocate for the positions that you’ve taken that you believe are correct,” she said.
