Leading Trial Lawyer and Workplace Health & Safety Partner Jason Mills Returns to Morgan Lewis

December 05, 2025

LOS ANGELES, December 5, 2025: Morgan Lewis is pleased to welcome back partner Jason Mills, a seasoned trial lawyer and nationally recognized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) practitioner, to its leading global labor and employment practice. Returning to the Los Angeles office, Jason advises clients on complex employment litigation matters and OSHA proceedings. He rejoins the firm from Sidley Austin, after previously spending more than 20 years—with over 11 of those as partner—with Morgan Lewis.

“As employers across the world navigate evolving national, state, and regional guidance and regulations while responding to intensified workplace safety oversight, they rely on trusted advisers with both courtroom experience and practical insight,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Jason’s return strengthens our already deep bench in labor and employment and reflects growing client demand for trial-tested advocates who can guide them through high-stakes disputes as well as day-to-day compliance challenges.”

Jason litigates the full spectrum of employment claims across all levels of the workforce, representing clients in state and federal jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings. He has tried numerous significant employment cases to verdict, including claims alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, and other complex workplace disputes. Jason also regularly defends employers in wage-and-hour putative class actions and has argued before the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the California Courts of Appeal. In addition to his employment litigation practice, he represents employers in defending federal and state OSHA citations, including workplace incident investigations and whistleblower matters. Jason served as the management-side chair of the American Bar Association’s Workplace Occupational Safety & Health Committee from 2022 to 2024.

“Jason is a top-tier trial lawyer whose clear-eyed, business-focused counsel helps clients manage risk and protect their employees,” said David McManus, leader of the firm’s global labor and employment practice. “With regulators taking a more assertive approach, employers face increasing pressure to maintain compliant, transparent, and effective workplace reporting and safety programs. Jason’s OSHA and workplace safety experience further strengthens our ability to support clients in this landscape. He’s a tremendous colleague and friend, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to Morgan Lewis.”

Before entering private practice, Jason served as a judge advocate in the US Marine Corps, prosecuting and defending more than 250 courts-martial and trying numerous jury cases to verdict, including during a seven-month tour in Iraq. He completed his service at the rank of captain in 2005 and received two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals for superior service.
