US Gulf Benzene Importers Bring in More Zero Tariff Chapter 27 Imports, S&P Global Commodity Insights

Partner Casey Weaver was quoted by S&P Global Commodity Insights in an article about the impact of tariffs on the US Gulf benzene market, as Chapter 27 imports surpass those of Chapter 29 imports for the first time.

Casey noted that “change is not an indication of wrongdoing,” and emphasized that customs authorities evaluate the compliance of imports against established regulations, which will likely grow in scope.

“We suspect all products will eventually be subject to tariffs as a result of ongoing Section 232 investigations, though the specific products to be affected and the amount of tariffs to be imposed are uncertain,” Casey said.
