China Seeks to Give New Impetus to Digital Yuan, Le Monde

Partner Hubert de Vauplane spoke with Le Monde about China’s renewed push to expand the digital yuan. He noted that the latest measures highlight Beijing’s intent to reassert influence over dominant private payment platforms.

“These announcements can be seen as a desire on the part of the central bank to regain control over these private players, without whom it is now very difficult to make payments in stores in China,” Hubert said.
