Companies Can Be Liable for ‘Causing’ Export Violations, Exyte Case Shows, WorldECR

Partner Michael Huneke spoke with WorldECR for an article about a Bureau of Industry and Security enforcement action resolving a case with a German engineering firm, and the resulting compliance implications for companies that may “cause” export violations involving Entity List transactions.

Mike told the publication that the enforcement “is another example among several recent ones of the Bureau of Industry and Security highlighting that, not only does it look at the principal parties to a transaction in terms of export controls enforcement, but it also thinks about and looks at who might have been facilitating a transaction or abetting or aiding a transaction.”
