January 28, 2026Partner Michael Huneke spoke with Global Investigations Review for a series of articles examining how export controls enforcement is increasingly overlapping with traditional corporate investigations, particularly in the semiconductor industry, amid geopolitical and diversion-risk concerns.
The series focuses on the collapse of a US semiconductor startup amid allegations of intellectual property theft. Mike told the publication that if the US semiconductor industry takes off, so could regulatory enforcement.
“There will be an increased focus, frankly, because there will be increased companies just naturally appearing to respond to America’s AI Action Plan,” Mike said. “The amount of opportunity and the amount of money is already huge in that space, and it’s only going to get bigger.”
