FCC Weighs Comments in Latest Broadcast Ownership Review, Broadband Breakfast

Partner Danielle Burt was quoted in a Broadband Breakfast article analyzing the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) latest quadrennial review of broadcast ownership rules and why this cycle may prove more consequential than prior proceedings.

Danielle noted that the review is unfolding alongside multiple related FCC media ownership proceedings and in the wake of the Eighth Circuit’s Zimmer Radio v. FCC decision, which reinforced Congress’s deregulatory mandate. She observed that the current proceeding could give the FCC room to reconsider its ownership framework more broadly, including renewed attention to the dual network rule.

“There’s an opportunity to make changes that are seemingly going further than just around the edges,” Danielle said.
