Order Could Propel EPA Action on Rule Rescinding Limits for Four PFAS, Inside EPA
January 28, 2026Inside EPA quoted partner Matthew Thurlow in an article about a recent DC Circuit decision declining to vacate portions of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) rule regulating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water, and the resulting implementation pressures facing water utilities as compliance deadlines approach.
Quoting from Matt’s comments during an Environmental Law Institute webinar, the publication noted that the decision is significant “because those water utilities are going to have to start implementing the current rulemaking and start doing sampling no later than April of 2026 in order to comply with some of the current deadlines in the rule for gathering the water data.”
