Class Action Group of the Year: Morgan Lewis, Law360

Morgan Lewis’s global class and group actions practice was profiled by Law360 in recognition of its selection as a 2025 Practice Group of the Year. In the profile, practice leaders Scott Schutte and April Nelson Ross discussed the firm’s work and significant victories for clients, including a summary judgment win for Freddie Mac in a long-running securities fraud case and the dismissal of claims brought under Illinois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act for Amazon Web Services.

Scott attributed the firm’s success in these matters to its aggressive approach to litigation, telling Law360 that while many defense firms will “let cases come to you” and take a slower approach, Morgan Lewis seeks a faster briefing schedule on class certification and summary judgment.

April spoke about the group’s internal efforts focused on knowledge gathering across the firm’s practice areas to ensure Morgan Lewis attorneys and clients understand what is happening in the class action space. April noted that these internal education efforts led to the creation of the firm’s public-facing Class Action Academy webinar series, now in its second year.
