Tariff-Dodging Settlements Underscore DOJ Focus on Trade Fraud, Bloomberg Law
August 18, 2026Bloomberg Law quoted partner Michael Huneke in an article about the US Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) increased use of the False Claims Act and other enforcement tools to target alleged tariff and import fraud.
Mike told the publication that the government’s focus on trade fraud could influence enforcement activity and companies’ approaches to resolving investigations. He noted that a significant executive branch initiative such as the DOJ’s Trade Fraud Task Force comes with “expected returns in terms of cases and penalties.”
