‘Lead Before You Feel Ready’: Morgan Lewis Lawyer Marks 30 Years, Managing IP

Managing IP profiled partner Anita Polott as part of its “Women in IP” series as she marks 30 years at Morgan Lewis, tracing her path into trademark law, her approach to leadership and mentorship, and lessons from her career.

When asked about taking on a leadership role before she felt fully prepared, Anita noted, “Our leadership has been very deliberate about getting people in positions of leadership, even before they’re ready. This benefits both men and women, and pushing people out of their comfort zone is something that I try to do for other people.”

Discussing the value of developing broad experience early in an IP career, Anita said, “Each of the things that I’ve done in the trademark space has made me better in other spaces.”

In reflecting on what has kept her at Morgan Lewis for three decades, she reflected, “If you have that feeling of home, there’s no reason to look for something else.”
