On February 3, 2021, the House of Representatives and the Senate of Virginia passed the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA). The House and the Senate of Virginia, approved an almost identical bill on February 5, 2021 (Senate Bill 1392). If the law is signed by the governor (presumably in early March 2021 after the final vote), it will be the first comprehensive data protection law of a US state since the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
